COLD PLUNGE
-
A 2022 research review of 52 studies suggested that cold water immersion following high-intensity exercise has positive outcomes for muscular power, perceived recovery, and reduced muscle soreness (due in part to decreased circulating levels of creatine kinase, which is associated with muscle damage and soreness).
-
When you are recovering, your body rebuilds and repairs tissue in your muscle. Cold plunges benefit this process by reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow to the muscle. The increased blood flow helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the damaged tissues, promoting faster recovery.
-
The output that follows Cold Exposure stimulates the release of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep.
-
Cold exposure increases the production of a neurotransmitter called norepinephrine (focus, attention, vigilance, mood). As a result, cold therapy can produce a feeling of calm, happiness, and well-being, which can support the mitigation of mental health symptoms such as depression and anxiety.
-
Cold-water immersion can also stimulate blood flow. When you immerse your body in cold water, the blood rushes to surround your vital organs. Your heart is then forced to pump more efficiently, pushing blood through all your vessels and supplying every part of your body with the oxygen and nutrients it needs.

Cold Plunge is the practice of immersing your body into cold water to treat health conditions and stimulate a number of health benefits.
-
We keep the Plunge in line with researched studies. Between 40-50 degrees of Filtered and Circulating water. Water movement prevents your body from cold adapting to gain maximum benefit. This is a night and day difference to traditional Ice Baths (we’ve tried those too).
-
2-3 minutes is great for your first time, but it will depend on you. Rest assured, we will be right by your side during your first Plunge experience. You’re welcome to get out whenever you feel.
-
All of it. We recommend dunking your head as soon as you get in. There are three key areas that contain the most nerve endings in the human body. The feet, hands, and head. The sooner that they are exposed to the elements, the quicker your body will adjust to the cold and receive greater benefit.
-
It will likely be very challenging, but you have accomplished many difficult things in your life. Hang tight, because you will feel regenerated afterwards!
